Circle Theatre is seeking stage and concert Directors for the following shows and concerts in it’s 2026 season:

Summer Concert Series: Deja Vu: The Music of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Summer Concert Series: Turn It On Again: The Music of Genesis
Summer Concert Series: A Family Affair
Potential Directors must demonstrate experience in their field, an ability to work with volunteer artists at all levels of age and experience, the ability to work collaboratively with Circle’s professional staff, the ability to work within a defined budget, an ability to visualize stage concepts for a thrust stage, an ability to communicate promptly and effectively in both written and verbal form, an ability to resolve conflict in a positive and productive manner, and a desire to ensure safe, equitable and inclusive environments for all production participants.
- All those interested must submit a resume and a letter of interest indicating the show(s) or concert(s) that they are interested in directing, along with a concept/vision for the show/concert. You may send supplemental material. Materials could include: photos, production reviews, link to your website, etc.
- Circle Theatre Staff will consider letters of interest submitted by Monday, November 10th. Letters of interest may be submitted to submissions@circletheatre.org
- Once Directors have been selected, Circle Staff will begin the process of putting together *production teams and issuing contracts.
*Please note: we are not accepting submissions for music directors, choreographers, stage managers or designers. If you would like to be considered for one of the positions listed above, please email lbrown@circletheatre.org and indicate the show(s) you are interested in.
- Those who are NOT selected this year will be notified once all hiring is complete.
REQUIREMENTS
The following indicates the level of experience we are expecting from candidates, however all applications will be considered:
- Prior experience directing at LEAST 2-3 full length productions or concerts, including experience managing a full design team.
- Ability to create a safe, equitable and inclusive working environment for all participants involved in the production.
- Basic understanding of pre-production paperwork and communication tools including: ability to create a tracking sheet, read a ground plan, and create an efficient rehearsal schedule.
- Experience with large scale auditions of 50-200 people.
- Must be a strong written and verbal communicator who is self-directed and attentive to deadlines.
- Must be a strong leader, able to identify the needs of a production far in advance, and create a plan for executing vision.
- Must be an excellent problem solver, willing to adjust to ever-changing needs and environment.
- Availability to adhere to Circle Theatre’s production schedule, attend all auditions, rehearsals (including technical rehearsals), opening night, and production meetings. Production meetings will be set prior to the rehearsal process.
- Formal directing training is a plus, but not a requirement.

COSTUME SHOP VOLUNTEERS
Do you have a passion for costumes and theatre? Are you looking for an opportunity to get involved in your local community? Look no further! Circle Theatre is currently seeking volunteers and work study interns to help in our costume shop.
As a volunteer or unpaid intern in our costume shop, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented and dedicated team of costume designers to bring our productions to life. Whether you are an experienced seamstress or just starting out, we welcome all levels of expertise.
Volunteers in our costume shop will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Sewing and alterations
- Fabric selection and sourcing
- Costume fittings and adjustments
- Costume maintenance and repairs
- Inventory and organization
We are looking for individuals who are reliable, detail-oriented, and passionate about theatre. We prefer volunteers that are available on a regular basis, but special project volunteers are needed too.
In return, volunteers will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in costume design and production, meet new people, and be part of the vibrant theatre community in our area.
